2007 Maverick Special Tasting

The 2007 Special Tasting will feature Maverick American Eatery & Wine Bar. The mezzanine level of Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion, with its panoramic views, has been reserved for this event within an event. This exclusive wine and food tasting will feature a special selection of the competition’s double gold and gold medal winning wines served with hors d’oeuvres prepared by Maverick, voted San Francisco’s Best New Restaurant for 2006 by the readers of San Francisco Magazine.

From the moment owners Mike Pierce (General Manager & Wine Director) and Scott Youkilis (Executive Chef) opened the doors of Maverick at 3316 17th Street in the Mission district of San Francisco in 2005, the restaurant has been serving up some of the most original and inventive cuisine The City has seen and has garnered a superlative following among residents and visitors.

Maverick features pioneering multi-regional American cuisine using organic produce and sustainable meats and fish, whenever possible. Innovative, delicious, classic regional American dishes with playful twists are creatively paired with an extensive list of American wines from throughout the U.S.

The menu for the 2007 Special Tasting includes:

• Lamb Riblets - Spice crusted and slow roasted ribs, mint buttermilk dressing
• Herb Profiteroles with Seafood Salad - Rock shrimp and bay scallop salad in herb profiteroles
• “Barbecue Chips” - Pulled pork, barbecue sauce, coleslaw, potato chip
• Chicken and Sausage Gumbo - Andouille sausage and chicken, white jasmine rice
• Roasted Beet, Chive Goat Cheese, Pine Nut Cracker - Roasted organic beets, goat cheese spread with chive, cracker
• “Beans and Cornbread” - Great Northern Bean spread on cornbread crisps, smoked bacon bits
• Salumi Crostini - Slice salumi, ricotta garlic spread, olive tapenade, fresh oregano

Space is extremely limited and expected to sell out quickly. The Special Tasting ticket includes admission to and all benefits of the public tasting plus the following special privileges:

• Entry to event 30 minutes prior to opening of main gate for General Admissions.
• Separate entrance area for Maverick Special Tasting ticket holders
• Special reserved mezzanine area with Golden Gate Bridge and San Francisco Bay views
• Opportunity to meet with competition judges
• Tasting of select double-gold and gold medal winning wines
• Hors d’oeuvres prepared by Maverick American Eatery & Wine Bar
