| It’s More Than a Wine Tasting! The Il Fornaio Wine and Food Show, a special wine and food tasting, has been added to this year’s San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting. A special section in the back of Herbst Pavilion has been reserved for this event within an event that will feature a special collection of the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition’s gold medal wines paired with hors d’oeuveres prepared by Il Fornaio, the acclaimed Italian restaurant and bakery. Il Fornaio’s creations are based on authentic Italian recipes. Emphasis is placed on simple, fresh ingredients and traditional Italian cooking methods. Offered at this wine and food tasting will be tasty antipasti, such as a selection of Italian cured meats and cheeses, stuffed artichokes and Italian stuffed eggs served with fresh baked panini and grissini; succulent pasta dishes like Gnocchi alla Fruilana (potato dumplings, sausage, caramelized onions, mushrooms, tomato-cream sauce, white wine); a fresh sliced fruit display; vegetable crudite; and dolci assortiti (assorted sweets). The California Raison Chef Demonstration Show and music by John Reese with the Open Hearts Band add to the festivities of the afternoon. Tickets to the Il Fornaio Wine and Food Show are $80 in advance, available here, and $90 at the door (if available). Space is limited, so don’t delay in securing your ticket.
