Sparkling Sweepstake Award; Rancho Zabaco Winery with their
2002 Russian River Valley Reserve Sauvignon Blanc won the
White Wine Sweepstake Award while Patz & Hall's 2002 Sonoma
Coast Pinot Noir took the
Red Sweepstake Wine Award
The results and
winners are particularly noteworthy as this competition features the
work of winemaking stars from throughout the state of California. With
over 2500 wine entries from a record breaking 565 California
wineries, 47
professional wine judges from throughout the United States awarded 3
Sweepstake Awards, 43 Double Gold Awards, 276 Gold Awards, 862 Silver
Awards, and 779 Bronze Awards. 2004 Tasting a Smashing Success
Bay Area wine and food lovers enjoyed the beautiful weather, fine wine,
and gourmet food at the
2004
San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition Public Tasting at SBC Park on
March 20, 2004. Over five hundred wineries poured medal winning wines
for the crowd. Jeremy Emmerson, Executive Chef of the Four Seasons
Hotel, Ron Siegel, Executive Chef at Masa, and Michael Salinger Chef and
Instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College delighted the attendee’s of the
wine/food pairing and chef demonstration show.
