Ron Rawlinson’s wine career has spanned across most
levels of the industry, beginning with several
hilarious episodes as a home winemaker in the 1980s.
Since then he has sold wine for America’s largest
wine wholesaler, for several Central coast wineries,
as a fine wine retailer for nine years and then as a
restaurant and wine manager. He has served as a
certified professional judge at five major wine
competitions since 1995, and been an instructor for
wine programs at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, Cuesta
College and the Central Coast Elderhostel program.
Since 2003, he has been a course director for Paso
Robles Wine University/SIP Paso. Rawlinson was the
director of one of America’s largest wine clubs,
holds the position of Conseiller Gastronomique for
the Central Coast baillage of the Chaine des
Rotisseurs, serves as a sommelier and coordinator
for the Hospice du Rhone and consults for the
Central Coast Wine Classic and Central Coast Wine
Challenge among other wine industry and private
clients.
